Most people arrive for a first fitting knowing roughly what they want and none of the vocabulary. That is completely normal. Here is what actually happens.
The consultation
We talk through the occasion, how you want to look, and how the garment needs to work day to day. This conversation shapes every later decision, so it is worth being honest about budget and about what you dislike in suits you already own.
Measuring
Over forty measurements, plus an assessment of posture: sloping shoulders, a forward stance, one arm longer than the other. Almost everybody is asymmetric in some way, and these are the things that make bought suits sit wrong.
It takes about fifteen minutes and you stay fully dressed in a shirt.
Choosing cloth and details
You will be shown bunches of cloth to handle in daylight. Photographs only get you so far — weight and drape are things you judge with your hands.
Then the specification: lapel, buttons, vents, pockets, lining, trouser cut. We make the calls you do not have an opinion on.
What to bring
A jacket you already own that fits the way you want, or one that never has. Either tells us a great deal in five minutes.
The shoes you intend to wear with the suit, so the trousers can be finished to the right length.
Later fittings
You come back to have the garment adjusted on your body. Balance, collar and sleeve pitch are refined until they are correct. This is included in the commission, not an extra, and it continues until you are happy.
